How to apply for a visitor visa

If you come to New Zealand on holiday, you might need to apply for a visitor visa before you arrive. Work out what you need to do to apply. Visa applications to visit, work, or study in New Zealand are now open. This information is for people who requested a border exception or who could not travel while the border was restricted.

 

Information about Visitor Visa

  • Visit friends and family, explore New Zealand or enjoy amateur sports, or adventure activity.
  • Study for up to 3 months.
  • Include your partner, and dependent children aged 19 and under, in your visa application.
  • Check if you need to apply for a Visitor Visa – people from visa waiver countries can travel to New Zealand without a visa but you must hold an NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority).
